Can strict rules...?

It's true that good behavior is important to both children and adults. So i agree that good behavior should be taught from childhood. But I disagree to the fact that the children should be bound with strict rules to make them behave.

In most Eastern countries children have to obey very strict rules. This affects adversely on them rather than making them good citizens. Too much rules makes a child frustrated and scared to convey his own ideas. Thus he becomes less enthusiastic, less social and backward. So he may lose lot of opportunities in the future. Sometimes such children may develop a strong urge to try out what they are being refrained from which will make them attend to it secretly.

In western world the children are much freer to act to their own wish. So they grow in to active, outgoing personalities. And also they get a lot of adventure and exposure which will make them more creative. When children have freedom, they develop and grow well both physically and mentally. But, there should be some kind of limit to the freedom too. Otherwise they would end up in wrong hands.

So all in all my opinion is that strict rules might hold up children but will not make them behave. Instead, loving care and friendly assistance with abundance of freedom will make them behave as we want while creating a pleasant environment for them to live in too.
